Shaman’s Fire (Needle Rock Press)
A singer, a death, a shaman…what has Sayla Whitewater gotten herself into?
KINDLE version here.
Shaman’s Fire is a modern-day suspense story of a young Native American woman who struggles to find her identity as she moves between the ancient traditions of her people and the beliefs of the merging white world. She discovers magic in the shaman’s fire but, too late, she discovers such magic demands a price.
Shaman’s Fire is a story of choices and how the known world can change in an instant.
It’s a story of injustice…
a story of heartbreak…
and a story of restoration.
Once when I was a speaker at an Oregon Outdoor Women’s event, I shared a room with some extremely adventurous mountain climbers and kayakers and every one of them had a book in their backpack.
These women were some of the most active I had ever met, yet having something to read in their down times was important….
Sometimes things other than what’s really important rob us of the time we need for what’s really important!

From a hospital room to the wilderness, set against the backdrop of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and linking those events with the deaths of Martin Luther King Jr. and Bobby Kennedy during the turbulent sixties era, Wild Woman is the journey of reconciling valued relationships and reaching for your dreams. It invites readers on a mental trip back through their own lives and challenges them to take a closer look at creation while offering an open door to fall into the arms of the One who created all things.

A new year is at hand and we stand at the threshold of the unknown. Some of us are trembling with excitement. Others are trembling in fear. We know little of the crushing storms or delightful blessings that lie before us, but we know the ONE who promises to be with us no matter what lies ahead….
As with anything…this is a beginning. I will soon share some of my own adventures here in the hope that it will encourage you in your own journey! Stay tuned!
OUR CREATOR AND REDEEMER has always existed. He made everything that has been made and he is from everlasting to everlasting. This is our dwelling place!
If we remember this, then our troubles will seem light and momentary.
It is for freedom that Creator Yahweh (Christ) has set us free!
He does not ask any great thing of us. He asks only that we love him and love others.
Why do we make such a hard thing of it and put ourselves under bondage? Let us walk in freedom! Let us rejoice that he has reduced all the rules to only two and has also given us his Holy Spirit power to walk in what the Beauty Way.
This is one of many reasons I believe in prayer!
